In this morning session we will explore the tong len practice of imagining giving and taking mounted on the breath.
Tong-len practice is the very core of Bodhisattva practice, and the more we familiarise ourselves with it the more we understand the whole purpose of listening to the teachings and practising them.
As we come to better understand how tong len practice works, the more we develop love and compassion. We voluntarily take on the suffering of all sentient beings and give our happiness to them. We see that it means taking the personal responsibility to first develop great love and great compassion, where we have the spontaneous strong wish that all beings be endowed in happiness, and be free from all suffering.
Engaging in the tong len practice gives us a supreme method for freeing beings from suffering (by taking their suffering upon us) and placing them in happiness (by giving our own happiness to them).
Regular tong len meditation incorporated into our daily lives is a highly meaningful core practice, and it is super important for developing love and compassion in our hearts.
